Tegui Calderón Rosario was born February 1, 1972, in Puerto Rico and relocated to Miami during his youth, attending Miami Beach Senior High. He began his music career in 1996 as Tego Tec with support from rapper Eddie Dee. His 2003 debut album El Abayarde achieved international success with 300,000 copies sold worldwide and a Latin Grammy nomination. Beyond music, Calderón transitioned into acting with roles in the Fast & Furious franchise starting in 2009, including appearances in Fast & Furious, Fast Five, and the short film Los Bandoleros. His musical style evolved to incorporate reggaeton and dancehall elements influenced by his time in Miami.
