Skip Schumaker is a former MLB outfielder and second baseman who played for the St. Louis Cardinals, Los Angeles Dodgers, and Cincinnati Reds. He transitioned into coaching, serving in roles with the San Diego Padres and St. Louis Cardinals before being hired as Miami Marlins manager in October 2022, replacing Don Mattingly. In 2023, he earned National League Manager of the Year after guiding the Marlins with a determined approach to instill a winning culture despite roster challenges. Schumaker parted ways with the Marlins in September 2024 following a 146-178 record over two seasons, amid a family emergency involving his grandmother's passing. He now serves as manager of the Texas Rangers. His Miami connection was through leading the Marlins during a rebuilding period.
