Sergio Busquets, born in 1988 in Spain, rose to prominence as a deep-lying playmaker at FC Barcelona from 2008, earning acclaim as one of the greatest defensive midfielders ever with his exceptional passing and game reading. He represented Spain 143 times, winning the 2010 World Cup and Euro 2012. In June 2023, he joined Inter Miami CF in Major League Soccer, reuniting with former Barcelona teammates Lionel Messi, Jordi Alba, and Luis Suárez. With Inter Miami, he secured three trophies, including the 2023 Leagues Cup, and scored his first MLS goal in 2024. Busquets retired from professional football at the end of the 2025 season, with a tribute held at Chase Stadium in October 2025.
