Born in Florida City and raised in Miami's Homestead area, Sean Taylor starred at Gulliver Preparatory School in Pinecrest, rushing for 1,300 yards and a state-record 44 touchdowns while leading the team to the 2000 Florida 2A championship. At the University of Miami, he contributed to the 2001 national championship as a true freshman with 26 tackles, then exploded as a starter in 2002-2003, earning Big East Defensive Player of the Year, consensus All-American honors, and setting school records with three pick-six touchdowns. Drafted fifth overall by the Washington Redskins in 2004, he earned a Pro Bowl nod in 2006 with his ferocious 'Meast' style. Taylor remained deeply tied to Miami, returning for voluntary school visits and staying in his hometown despite warnings. Tragically killed in a 2007 home invasion in Miami at age 24.
