Born in Miami, Florida, Santana Moss rose to prominence as a standout wide receiver and track athlete at Carol City High School before starring for the University of Miami Hurricanes from 1997-2000. At UM, he set school records in all-purpose yards (4,402), receiving yards (2,546), punt return yards (1,196), and punt return touchdowns (6), while earning consensus All-American honors and setting an NCAA record with 4 punt return touchdowns in 2000. Drafted 16th overall by the New York Jets in 2001, he played 14 NFL seasons, including 10 with the Washington Redskins, where he was named All-Pro in 2005. As a Miami native deeply tied to the city's sports legacy, Moss remains celebrated in South Florida for his Hurricanes contributions. Post-retirement, he has stayed connected to the University of Miami community through its Sports Hall of Fame induction.
