Born and raised in Miami-Dade County, Rodney Harris moved his family to Miami Gardens over 20 years ago and has deep roots in the community as a family man and Masonic Lodge member. His career highlights include work with the Department of Juvenile Justice, where he earned Employee of the Year in 2008 and contributed to the award-winning STEP mentoring program for at-risk youth. Elected as Councilman for Seat 3 in 2012 and re-elected in 2016, he served as Vice Mayor in 2018 before becoming Miami Gardens' third Mayor in 2020. Currently, he co-chairs the Miami Gardens Community Redevelopment Area, serves on the Miami-Dade County League of Cities executive board, and advises the Sylvester Cancer Center.
