Philip Levine, born in Boston in 1962 and moved to South Florida at age 10, graduated from the University of Michigan with a political science degree before settling in Miami Beach. He launched Onboard Media in 1990 with $500, growing it into a major cruise industry provider of port marketing, in-cabin publications, and services, later selling it to LVMH; he co-founded Miami Cruiseline Services and now leads Royal Media Partners. Elected Mayor of Miami Beach in 2013 and re-elected in 2015, he tackled flooding, police reform, public transit, and Florida's first living minimum wage. A 2018 Democratic candidate for Florida governor, he remains a real estate developer revitalizing areas like Sunset Harbor with partner Scott Robins. He lives in Miami Beach with his wife and four children.
