Born in 1954, María Elena Salinas began her career in 1981 as a reporter and anchor at KMEX-TV in Los Angeles before co-anchoring Noticiero Univision with Jorge Ramos starting in 1987. She interviewed world leaders like Presidents Bill Clinton and Barack Obama, as well as celebrities such as Gloria Estefan. Salinas has lived in Miami since 1991 with her two daughters, Julia and Gabriela, deeply embedding herself in South Florida's vibrant Hispanic community. She retired from Univision in early 2018 after 36 years, marking the end of her on-air tenure. Today, at 70, she divides her time between a luxurious Miami high-rise with ocean views and other serene spaces, embracing a life of freedom and family in Coral Gables and beyond.
