Malik Allen, born in Willingboro Township, New Jersey, played college basketball at Villanova University before enjoying an 11-year NBA career with teams including the Miami Heat, where he began as a player in 2001. He transitioned to coaching in 2014, serving as an assistant with the Detroit Pistons until 2018, then the Minnesota Timberwolves in 2018-19. In 2019, he returned to the Miami Heat as an assistant coach under Erik Spoelstra, calling it a homecoming to the organization that shaped his professional start.
