Kionne L. McGhee was born in Miami, grew up in South Dade public housing, and earned a bachelor's degree in political science from Howard University and a Juris Doctor from Thurgood Marshall School of Law. He served as a Florida State Representative for District 117 from 2012 to 2020, rising to House Minority Leader in 2018, where he led key initiatives like the Name, Image, and Likeness law for student-athletes and the Florida Slavery Memorial. Deeply connected to Miami-Dade, he worked as an assistant state attorney before entering politics. Currently, he serves as Vice Chairman of the Miami-Dade County Commission for District 9, representing south-central areas from Richmond Heights to Florida City. He founded 2NOIT Media & Publishing, Y.A.L.E. (Young Advocates Leading by Example), and leads Transitions, Inc., while holding board roles in community organizations.
