Julio Cabrera began his career as a cantinero in Cuba in the late 1980s, representing his country in bartending competitions in Italy and Mexico before establishing himself in Miami in the early 2000s. He grew up playing at his father's 24-hour bar in Cuba, fostering his lifelong passion for the craft. In Miami, he co-founded Café La Trova with Chef Michelle Bernstein, bringing authentic Cuban-style bartending to Little Havana. Cabrera has earned global acclaim, including induction into the Bartender Hall of Fame by Bartender Magazine in 2024 and recognition as the Roku Industry Icon at North America’s 50 Best Bars 2023. He briefly partnered in La Cumbancha in Miami Lakes, which closed in 2024. Today, he serves as Maestro Cantinero and Co-Owner at Café La Trova.
