He led efforts for democracy amid Nicolás Maduro's disputed rule, authoring key laws like the Organic Law of Referendums and the Law of Amnesty. In 2023, he fled Venezuela via Colombia to avoid arrest, arriving in Miami with U.S. assistance after deportation threats. His family later joined him in the U.S. He remains active in South Florida's Venezuelan exile community, speaking publicly in Coral Gables and engaging with international stakeholders on Venezuela's crisis. Currently, he coordinates opposition efforts from Miami, including plans to meet U.S. Congress members.
