As a state representative and senator for Miami-Dade districts, Rodríguez served on the Miami-Dade Legislative Delegation, Citizens Transportation Advisory Committee, and Community Relations Board, improving local infrastructure and community ties. His work earned recognition from the Mobile Home Council for cooperation on housing issues. A lifelong Miamian with Cuban heritage, he continues to represent and uplift Latino and working-class communities through his legal practice and political campaigns.

Born in 1978 and raised in Miami, José Javier Rodríguez graduated from Brown University with a degree in International Relations and earned his J.D. from Harvard Law School. He served in the Peace Corps in Senegal from 2000-2003 before becoming an attorney focused on workers' rights. Elected to the Florida House in 2012 for District 112 and the Florida Senate in 2016 for District 37, both in Miami-Dade, he advocated for transportation and community issues until 2020. After losing a close Senate reelection, he served as U.S. Assistant Secretary of Labor under Biden from 2024-2025, expanding job training and protections. Now back in South Florida as a partner at Sugarman Susskind Braswell & Herrera in Coral Gables, he is running for Florida Attorney General to fight corruption and protect Floridians.
