Ramos has strengthened Miami's role as a hub for Spanish-language journalism through his long-time anchoring of Univision programs from the city, influencing Latino audiences across the U.S. He supports the next generation of journalists via the Jorge Ramos Endowed Scholarship at the University of Miami, fostering storytelling and truth-seeking among students. Additionally, his Bar Bella restaurant in South Miami contributes to the local dining scene with a unique cultural fusion.

Jorge Ramos graduated from Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City with a degree in communications and earned a Master's in International Studies from the University of Miami. He began his career as a reporter in Mexico before moving to the U.S. in 1983 to escape censorship, eventually anchoring Noticiero Univision since 1987 alongside María Elena Salinas. Over his 39-year tenure at Univision, he covered five wars, the fall of the Berlin Wall, and the War in Afghanistan, while hosting Al Punto and America with Jorge Ramos. Deeply connected to Miami, where he lives in Coconut Grove, Ramos has established an endowed scholarship at the University of Miami's School of Communication for journalism students. He recently opened Bar Bella restaurant in South Miami in late 2024, blending his Cuban heritage with his wife Alicia's Midwestern roots.
