Born in Havana, Cuba, in 1961, Jon Secada fled to Miami with his family in the 1960s, graduating from Hialeah High School in 1979 and earning a bachelor's in Music and a master's in Jazz Vocal Performance from the University of Miami, where he was inducted into the Iron Arrow Honor Society. He rose to fame as a backup singer for Gloria Estefan, co-writing hits like 'Coming Out of the Dark' before launching a solo career with multi-platinum albums, two Grammy Awards, and over 15 million records sold worldwide. Deeply rooted in Miami, Secada resides in Coral Gables near his alma mater and continues performing timeless hits at local venues. He owns Secada’s music lounge at Magic City Casino, which draws sold-out crowds, and recently released a tribute album to Cuban icon Beny Moré. Currently, he remains an active performer and philanthropist, collaborating with family like daughter Mikaela Secada on stage.
