His leadership has positioned the center as a catalyst for cultural engagement across South Florida's varied communities.

South African-born Johann Zietsman was born in the 1950s and grew up under apartheid, developing a lifelong passion for the arts as a brass player in high school. After military service, he earned degrees in architecture and music, then spent 20 years in executive arts management positions across South Africa, including directing a large multi-theatre performing arts company and launching community youth initiatives serving approximately 4,000 at-risk children. Before joining Miami, he served as president of Calgary's Arts Commons, where he transformed a projected $900,000 deficit into a $1.3 million surplus over a decade. Zietsman joined the Adrienne Arsht Center in 2018 and has since overseen more than 400 shows, supported arts education advancements, and welcomed the center's 5 millionth guest.
