Born in 1970 in New York to hotel developers and art collectors Don and Mera Rubell, Jennifer grew up immersed in the contemporary art world, meeting artists like Keith Haring as a child. She studied art history at Harvard and trained at the Culinary Institute of America before moving to Miami in 1992 with her family to develop hotels and establish the Rubell Family Collection. There, she launched her signature Breakfast Project in 2005, offering free interactive meals during Art Basel Miami Beach that draw thousands. Her practice evolved from food-related installations at the Rubell Museum to exhibitions in museums and galleries worldwide. Now based in New York, she continues creating participatory works exploring themes of food, love, and social occasion. Her annual Miami breakfasts remain a highlight of her career.
