Irma Braman is a lifelong philanthropist deeply rooted in Miami, where she and her husband Norman have made significant contributions through the Braman Family Foundation established in 1995. Following the tragic loss of Irma's sister to breast cancer in 2005, they donated $5 million to the University of Miami’s Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center to create the Braman Family Breast Cancer Institute, focusing on research, prevention, diagnosis, and treatment. They spearheaded the Irma and Norman Braman Comprehensive Cancer Center at Mount Sinai Medical Center after years of research into top cancer facilities nationwide. In the arts, Irma and Norman played a pivotal role in bringing Art Basel Miami Beach to the city and funded the 37,500-square-foot Institute of Contemporary Art Miami in the Design District, which opened in 2017. They have also been leaders in Jewish causes, including the Miami Beach Holocaust Memorial and the Greater Miami Jewish Federation, with Irma participating in missions to Israel. Currently, Irma continues her philanthropic efforts through family foundations focused on healthcare, arts, and community welfare in South Florida.
