Gerardo Martino began his career as a professional footballer, primarily with Newell's Old Boys in Argentina, where he holds the record for most appearances and was voted the club's greatest player. Transitioning to coaching, he achieved success with Atlanta United, winning the MLS Cup in 2018, and later coached Barcelona and national teams like Argentina and Mexico. In 2023, he joined Inter Miami CF in Miami, reuniting with stars Lionel Messi, Jordi Alba, Sergio Busquets, and Josef Martínez. Under his leadership, Inter Miami surged from 27th in 2023 to 1st in the 2024 Supporters' Shield standings, setting a league points record.
