Conexión con Miami
Boric's election as a progressive leftist president prompted at least two Chilean law firms to open Miami offices to help wealthy, conservative Chileans relocate to South Florida. His presidency influenced Chilean expat communities in Miami who participated in referendums on Chile's proposed progressive constitution at voting locations in the area. Political instability under his administration contributed to increased Latin American investment in Miami real estate, as wealthy Chileans sought alternative asset havens in South Florida.

Gabriel Boric Font was born on February 11, 1986, and became Chile's youngest president in history when he took office in 2022 at age 36. A socialist politician, he previously served as a member of the Chamber of Deputies for two consecutive terms from 2014 to 2022. He won the presidency in December 2021 by defeating far-right candidate José Antonio Kast with 55.9% of the vote in the second round. As president, Boric pursued progressive reforms including LGBTQ+ support, climate change initiatives, and appointed Chile's first majority-female cabinet. His presidency faced challenges due to high crime and inflation rates, leading to low approval ratings throughout his tenure. He left office in March 2026.
