As a former Dolphins star, Stephenson received the 1985 Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award for his off-field efforts in South Florida, establishing a legacy of community service. Through the Dwight Stephenson Foundation, he funds local charities like United Cerebral Palsy, Boys and Girls Clubs of Broward, and the American Diabetes Association, hosting events such as the annual Hall of Fame Golf Classic. Dwight Stephenson, born November 20, 1957, played college football at the University of Alabama, earning All-American honors and contributing to back-to-back national championships in 1978 and 1979. Drafted by the Miami Dolphins in 1980, he became one of the NFL's premier centers, earning five Pro Bowls, All-Pro recognition, and induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1998 before retiring in 1987 due to injury. Post-football, he co-founded D. Stephenson Construction, Inc. in 1992 with his wife Dinah in Fort Lauderdale, growing it into a firm serving education, municipal, aviation, and healthcare sectors with over 50 employees. He remains deeply connected to Miami-Dade and Broward Counties through his business operations and board roles. Currently, he serves as CEO of his construction company and leads the Dwight Stephenson Foundation, founded in 2007.
