David Oscar Markus graduated from Harvard Law School and began his career clerking for Chief Judge Edward B. Davis of the U.S. District Court, followed by practice at Williams & Connolly in Washington, D.C. He served as an Assistant Federal Public Defender, securing groundbreaking verdicts before founding his Miami-based firm Markus/Moss PLLC. Deeply connected to Miami, he practices from 40 NW 3rd St Ph 1 and engages extensively with the local legal community as past-president of the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers Miami Chapter and Federal Bar Association South Florida Chapter. Currently, he is a partner at Markus/Moss PLLC, a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers since 2020, and a lecturer at the University of Miami School of Law. Beyond litigation, he hosts the For the Defense podcast, founded the Southern District of Florida blog, and publishes op-eds on justice reform.
