Cuban-born Cesar L. Alvarez immigrated to Miami in 1960, earned his associate degree from Miami Dade College in 1967, and went on to receive a BS, MBA, and JD from the University of Florida. He practiced securities, corporate, and international law for over 25 years before becoming CEO of Greenberg Traurig in 1997, expanding it from 325 lawyers in eight offices to 1,850 professionals in over 36 locations worldwide. Alvarez later served as Executive Chairman and now holds the role of Senior Chairman. Deeply rooted in Miami, he has built his distinguished career there, representing public companies and serving on boards of corporations and charities. His leadership has earned him accolades like the 2026 Sand in My Shoes Award from the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce.
