At FIU in Miami, Dr. Fonseca drives research and policy on U.S.-Latin America security, cybersecurity, and threats like Venezuela and China, influencing regional discourse through the Jack D. Gordon Institute and Cybersecurity@FIU. He chairs the Americas Linkage Committee at the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce, fostering business-policy ties, and provides on-air analysis for local WSVN-Fox News, educating South Florida on global issues.

Dr. Brian Fonseca earned degrees in International Business and International Relations from Florida International University in Miami, followed by a Ph.D. in Political Science from the same institution, and studied at Sichuan University in China and National Defense University in D.C. His career began with U.S. Marine Corps service from 1997 to 2004, training foreign militaries in combat and peacetime, then as Senior Research Manager for Socio-Cultural Analysis at U.S. Southern Command’s JIOC-S. Deeply connected to Miami through his FIU education and roles, he now leads major university initiatives. Currently, he is Vice Provost for Defense and National Security Research, Director of the Jack D. Gordon Institute for Public Policy, and founding Executive Director of Cybersecurity@FIU.
