Born in 1981 in Cali, Colombia, Aileen Cannon earned a B.A. from Duke University in 2003 and a J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School in 2007. She clerked for Judge Steven M. Colloton on the Eleventh Circuit, practiced law in Washington, D.C. from 2009-2012, and served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Southern District of Florida from 2013-2020. Nominated by President Donald Trump in May 2020 to replace Judge Kenneth A. Marra, she was confirmed by the Senate in November 2020 and commissioned the following day. Based in Fort Pierce, she presides over cases in the Southern District of Florida, which encompasses Miami and South Florida. Her tenure has included notable interventions in federal investigations, drawing appeals and scrutiny from higher courts.
