Starting his art journey in his teens, Rubell assembled a striking collection by age 21, featuring 53 artists like George Condo, Jeff Koons, and Gerhard Richter, which debuted as the Time Capsule exhibition at Duke University and toured nationally. Since his family's 1992 move to Miami, he has transformed warehouse spaces in Wynwood into the Rubell Museum's expansive 100,000-square-foot Allapattah home, now showcasing over 7,700 works including 2025-26 standouts from Yayoi Kusama, Keith Haring, and Yoshitomo Nara. Rubell advances Miami's art ecosystem by commissioning pieces from talents like Seung Ah Paik and hosting Art Week salons with Met curators at his residence. His artist-in-residence programs, such as Joanna van Son's 2025 showcase, nurture emerging voices in South Florida.
