Born in 1966 in Hialeah, Florida, to Cuban immigrant parents, Wifredo Ferrer graduated from the University of Pennsylvania Law School in 1990 and clerked for U.S. District Judge Stanley Marcus. His career highlights include serving as a White House Fellow, Special Assistant to the HUD Secretary, and Deputy Chief of Staff to Attorney General Janet Reno, followed by roles as an Assistant U.S. Attorney and chief of the Federal Litigation Section for Miami-Dade County. Nominated by President Obama in 2010, he served nearly seven years as U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Florida, overseeing over 11,000 cases and 18,000 defendants in areas like financial fraud, terrorism, and public corruption. Deeply rooted in Miami, where he was born and raised, Ferrer joined Holland & Knight in 2017 as a partner in its Miami office. He currently chairs the firm's Global Compliance and Investigations Team and serves as executive partner of the Miami office, focusing on internal investigations and white-collar defense.
