As Mayor, Vince Lago has spearheaded legislative initiatives, sustainability efforts, and transportation planning as a board member of the Miami-Dade Transportation Planning Organization since 2017, enhancing South Florida's infrastructure and energy conservation. He supports arts and culture through long-term roles on boards like Locust Projects, Coral Gables Museum, City of Miami’s Arts and Entertainment Council, and Coral Gables Community Foundation, promoting public spaces and aiding vulnerable residents. His work on the Biscayne Bay Watershed Management Advisory Board advances environmental sustainability in the region.
About
Born in New Orleans and a Coral Gables resident since 1980, Vince Lago graduated from Gulliver Preparatory School and earned a bachelor’s in Business Administration and a Master’s in Construction Management from Florida International University. He began his public service as a City Commissioner for eight years, serving as Vice Mayor from 2019 to 2021, before being elected Mayor in April 2021, re-elected in 2023 and 2025, making history as the city's youngest mayor. Professionally, he is an executive at a management and design firm specializing in commercial construction for medical and educational facilities. Lago has deep ties to Coral Gables through his family, including his wife Olga, a Coral Gables native, and their two daughters. Currently, he leads the city, focusing on preserving its unique character while advancing infrastructure and community initiatives.
