Born and raised in Miami Gardens, Oliver G. Gilbert III graduated from Florida A&M University with a B.A. in Criminal Justice and earned his J.D. with honors from the University of Miami School of Law. A seasoned attorney with 20 years of experience in real estate, municipal, constitutional, civil rights, and employment law, he entered public service as Mayor of Miami Gardens in 2012, driving corporate expansion, business development, job creation, and city revenue growth, earning All-America City recognition in 2020. He now serves as Miami-Dade County Commissioner for District 1, advocating for youth and residents while chairing the Southeast Florida Transportation Council for regional planning. His deep Miami Gardens roots fuel his commitment to reinvesting in the community that shaped him.
