As Chair of the Miami-Dade County School Board, Mari Tere Rojas oversees the governance of the nation's third-largest A-rated school district, emphasizing excellence, choice, innovation, and safety. She chairs the Fiscal Accountability and Government Relations Committee, serves as vice chair of the Personnel, Student, School and Community Support Committee, and represents the board on key groups like the Audit and Budget Advisory Committee and Friends of WLRN Board. Mari Tere Rojas is a professional educator with more than 45 years in Miami-Dade County Public Schools, holding high-level administrative and teaching positions. She was first elected to the Miami-Dade County School Board in November 2016 as the representative for District 6 and is now serving her fourth term. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Education from Florida International University, a Master of Science in Education with a specialization in Administration and Leadership from Nova Southeastern University, and an Education Specialist degree from the same institution. Her career highlights include awards such as Exceptional Student Education Administrator of the Year, Region 4 Principal of the Year, National Distinguished Principal, and the Commissioner of Education’s Outstanding Leadership Award. Schools under her leadership received the National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence Award, Governor’s Sterling Award, and Magnet Schools of America National Merit Award. Currently, she serves as Chair of the School Board, leading the nation’s third-largest A-rated school district.
