During his tenure as Doral's founding mayor, Bermudez oversaw the city's transformation into Florida's fastest-growing city and 11th fastest-growing in the nation, while ensuring all public schools in Doral achieved 'A' ratings. He created the city's award-winning Finance and Parks departments and added over 121 acres of playgrounds and recreational facilities. As County Commissioner, he continues to advocate for western Miami-Dade County's development and serves on the Board of the Miami-Dade County Transportation Planning Organization.

Juan Carlos 'JC' Bermudez was born February 20, 1962, and immigrated to the United States from Santa Clara, Cuba at age 3, becoming a U.S. citizen after high school. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Miami and a Juris Doctor from the University of Notre Dame Law School. Bermudez served as the founding Mayor of Doral for 9.5 years and was re-elected in 2016 and 2020, overseeing significant infrastructure development including 121 acres of recreational facilities and the construction of the Doral Government Center. He has been serving as Miami-Dade County Commissioner for District 12 since August 23, 2022, representing western Miami-Dade County including Doral, Hialeah Gardens, Medley, Sweetwater, and portions of Hialeah. He is married to Vivian Bermudez, a special education teacher, and they have three children and have resided in Doral for 24 years.
