Under his leadership, West Kendall Baptist Hospital became a community hub and innovation center, earning national accolades for quality, safety, and service, while linking with Florida International University’s Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine. At Doctors Hospital, a Coral Gables institution celebrating 70 years, he continues building on its community roots and advances the Miami Orthopedics & Sports Medicine Institute with state-of-the-art facilities partnered with the Miami Heat to extend elite care to all patients. His community involvement includes boards for the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce, FIU Frost Art Museum, United Way of Miami-Dade, and Adrienne Arsht Center.

Javier Hernández-Lichtl began his career with Baptist Health South Florida over 25 years ago as an administrative resident at Baptist Hospital. He rose through leadership roles, including CEO of South Miami Hospital, Baptist Outpatient Services, and West Kendall Baptist Hospital, which he helped build from the ground up as Miami-Dade County's first new hospital in over 35 years. Named one of the Top 50 Most Influential Hispanics in the U.S. by Hispanic Business Magazine, he has served as CEO for multiple Baptist Health entities. A 25-year Coral Gables resident and former board member of the Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce, he assumed the role of CEO of Doctors Hospital and Miami Orthopedics & Sports Medicine Institute in December 2019. He also serves as Chief Academic Officer for Baptist Health South Florida, leading the Center for Advancement of Learning.
