Born in Florida to Cuban parents, Jackie Nespral graduated from the University of Miami with degrees in psychology and communications, followed by a degree in print and broadcast journalism from Florida International University. She made history as the first Hispanic to anchor NBC's Weekend Today show in 1992, commuting between Miami and New York before returning to South Florida in 1995 to anchor at WTVJ (NBC 6). Nespral has covered major events including presidential visits to Cuba, hurricanes, and sports championships, earning six Emmy Awards and the Silver Circle Award. Deeply connected to Miami as a South Florida native and former Orange Bowl Queen, she currently co-anchors NBC 6 News and hosts Impact. Her University of Miami ties include serving as the first Hispanic woman president of the Alumni Association, on the Board of Directors for the School of Communication, and receiving the Iron Arrow honor.
