About
Gino DiMare grew up in South Florida as a fan of the Miami Hurricanes before starring as an outfielder at Westminster Christian School and UM from 1989-1992, batting .290 and ranking high in games played, stolen bases, and sacrifices. He joined the UM coaching staff in 1997 as an assistant under Jim Morris, contributing to national titles in 1999 and 2001 while serving as recruiting coordinator and hitting coach, developing MLB talents like Ryan Braun and Yonder Alonso. Named head coach in 2018 ahead of the 2019 season, he led Miami to a 168-86 record over five years, including 41 wins and an NCAA postseason berth in his debut year plus consistent tournament appearances. Deeply rooted in Miami, DiMare spent 24 total seasons with the program. He stepped down as head coach in June 2023 after the Coral Gables Regional to pursue what he deemed best for himself and the program.
