Alfredo 'Freddy' Ramirez III joined the Miami-Dade Police Department in 1995 and rose through all civil service ranks to become Director, overseeing the department's Investigative and Police Services divisions. During his tenure as Director, he also served as Chief of Public Safety under Mayor Daniella Levine Cava, overseeing both Police and Fire Rescue departments. As a Major, Ramirez implemented the North-End Street Violence Task Force, which successfully identified and prosecuted high-threat individuals and was later expanded county-wide as a permanent Homicide Bureau component. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Sociology from the University of Miami and completed executive leadership programs through the Major Cities Chiefs Association and Florida International University. Ramirez is a member of multiple professional law enforcement organizations and serves as President of the Police Officer Assistance Trust.
