As Hialeah Mayor and City Council President, Bovo passed anti-sexual predator ordinances, enhanced quality-of-life measures, and strengthened public safety without raising taxes. On the Miami-Dade Commission, he secured the county's largest tax cut, reformed pensions, established term limits, and created a Policy Council addressing mass transit, sea level rise, housing affordability, and gun violence. His efforts also promoted fiscal discipline at Miami International Airport and supported cultural landmarks like the Brigade 2506 Museum.
