Ed Reed, born in St. Rose, Louisiana, starred at Destrehan High School before joining the University of Miami, where he set records with 21 career interceptions, 389 return yards, and five pick-sixes while anchoring the defense for the 2001 national championship team. Drafted in the first round by the Baltimore Ravens in 2002, he played 11 seasons there, winning Super Bowl XLVII, earning 2004 NFL Defensive Player of the Year, and later joining the Pro Football, College Football, and University of Miami Sports Halls of Fame. His Miami connection is profound as a Hurricanes icon and Ring of Honor member. He joined UM staff in 2020 as chief of staff under Manny Diaz, transitioning to senior football advisor under Mario Cristobal.
