Born in Sacramento, California, Drake Callender began his professional career after playing college soccer at UC Berkeley and joining Inter Miami CF in December 2019 via homegrown rights from the San Jose Earthquakes. He spent two seasons in the club's development pathway before breaking out as the first-team starting goalkeeper in 2022, earning MLS Goalkeeper of the Year finalist honors with key saves and clean sheets. His Miami tenure peaked with a Man of the Match performance in the 2023 Leagues Cup final, where he saved two penalties and scored one in the shootout, plus contributions to the 2024 Supporters' Shield. Callender played 118 matches for Inter Miami from 2022-2024, keeping 19 clean sheets. He was traded to Charlotte FC in August 2025 and then to Minnesota United FC ahead of the 2026 season.
