Born in Guyana, Christine King moved to Miami at age five and attended local schools including Allapattah Elementary, Westview Middle, and Miami Central Senior High. She spent over 15 years in county service, including as Chief of Constituent Services for a Miami-Dade County Commissioner and as an executive with the Community Action Agency. King earned her Juris Doctor from Nova Southeastern University and became a practicing attorney. Prior to her election, she served as President and CEO of the Martin Luther King Economic Development Corporation, managing programs like 'Wheels to Work' to aid families with transportation needs. Elected in November 2021 as the first Guyanese American and first female Chairwoman of the City of Miami Commission, she represents District 5, encompassing Liberty City, Little Haiti, Model City, Overtown, Wynwood/Edgewater, and the Upper East Side.
