He continued developing talent as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Long Beach Polytechnic High School from 2008 to 2010, honing skills of notable players like Raheem Cato. After coaching inside receivers and quarterbacks at Goldenwest Junior College, Perkins joined Florida Atlantic University in May 2017 as a player development assistant, primarily working with running backs. He was elevated to running backs coach in December 2019 through the 2021 season. Despite injuries, his unit ranked fourth in Conference USA in rushing at 180.1 yards per game in 2020.
