Representing northeastern Miami-Dade including Hialeah, Hialeah Gardens, and Miami Springs, Avila advocates for local veterans by sponsoring bills against military service misrepresentation and supporting pandemic response efforts while deployed. His leadership on the Miami-Dade County Republican Executive Committee as vice-chairman and roles on the Public Health Trust Board have bolstered community health and economic initiatives. About
A lifelong Hialeah resident born in 1984, Bryan Avila graduated from Miami Springs Senior High School, earned an AA from Miami Dade College, a BA in Political Science from the University of Miami, and Masters degrees in Criminal Justice and Public Administration from Florida International University. He served as an adjunct professor at Miami Dade College and Broward College while beginning his public service on Hialeah's Planning and Zoning Board and Scholarship Board. First elected to the Florida House in 2014 representing District 111, including Hialeah and Miami Springs, he rose to Speaker Pro Tempore and chaired key committees like Health Care Appropriations. In 2022, he won the Florida Senate seat for District 39 unopposed and continues serving as Chair of Finance and Tax. A Captain in the Florida Army National Guard since 2016, he has earned multiple commendations including the Army Commendation Medal.
