Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Andrés Oppenheimer studied law at the University of Buenos Aires before moving to the United States in 1976 on a World Press Institute fellowship. He spent a year at Macalester College in Minnesota and earned a master's degree in journalism from Columbia University in 1978. Joining The Miami Herald, he served as Mexico City bureau chief, foreign correspondent, and business writer, co-winning a Pulitzer Prize in 1987 for the team's Iran-Contra scandal coverage. His twice-weekly column, 'The Oppenheimer Report,' is syndicated in over 60 newspapers worldwide, and he regularly analyzes politics on CNN en Español while hosting his TV show 'Oppenheimer Presenta' across the U.S. and 19 countries. Oppenheimer has authored nine books, including bestsellers like 'Castro’s Final Hour,' 'Saving the Americas,' and his 2023 release '¡Cómo salir del pozo!,' earning awards such as the King of Spain Prize, Overseas Press Club Award, and Inter-American Press Association honors.
