Thomas Emerson Scott Jr., born in Pittsburgh in 1948, earned his B.A. and J.D. from the University of Miami and began his legal career in private practice in Miami from 1972. He served as a Circuit Judge for Dade County from 1979-1984 and as a U.S. District Judge for the Southern District of Florida from 1985-1990. Appointed by President Bill Clinton, he was U.S. Attorney for the Southern District from 1997-2000, overseeing major cases before returning to private practice. Deeply connected to Miami through education, long-term residency, and professional roles, he now serves as Managing Partner of the Miami office at Cole, Scott & Kissane, P.A.
