Andrés Manuel López Obrador

Born November 13, 1953, in Tepetitán, Tabasco, López Obrador earned a degree in political science from the National Autonomous University of Mexico. He began his political career in the 1970s working for Tabasco's indigenous affairs bureau, later serving as national president of the Party of the Democratic Revolution (PRD) from 1996-1999. He was elected Head of Government of Mexico City from 2000-2005, where he implemented innovative social programs including old-age pensions, support for single mothers, and urban infrastructure investments under the slogan 'For the good of all, the poor first.' After two unsuccessful presidential bids in 2006 and 2012, he founded MORENA in 2014 and won the 2018 presidential election with over 53% of the vote. During his presidency, he focused on anti-corruption efforts, direct payments to millions living in poverty, minimum wage increases, and comprehensive judicial reform.
